Care Instructions

  • Protecting the Area

    • Do not rinse or use mouthwash for at least 24 hours.

    • After 24 hours, rinse gently with salinized water (1/2 tsp sea salt in 8oz warm water) every 1-2 hours. Release the water from your mouth gently, do not spit. Repeat this process for 5 days to support healing and reduce bacteria.

    • If ozone ice is provided, allow the ice to gently dissolve in the mouth three times daily.

    Managing Discomfort

    • Rinse your retainer with lukewarm water immediately after removing it to prevent saliva and plaque from drying.

    • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush with retainer cleaner. Avoid using regular toothpaste as it can scratch the retainer.

    • Regularly soak your retainer in Efferdent or an ultrasonic cleaner to remove buildup.

    • Regularly wash your retainer case to prevent bacteria from growing.

    Handling and Storage

    • When not in your mouth, store your retainer in its protective case to prevent loss and damage.

    • Never expose your retainer to hot water, boiling water, dishwashers, or direct sunlight. Do not leave your retainer in a hot car as heat can warp and ruin the device.

    • Do not squeeze the retainer too hard when cleaning, as it can break in the middle.

    • Take your retainer out while eating to prevent damage or staining.
